A wonderful amble or run that takes you along Balch Creek, past the historic Stone House, up above the babbling water, out to view one of the rear entrances to the park, then back along one of the best gently downhill-sloping sections of Wildwood. This moderate hike has a decent amount of uphill; wear boots or sturdy shoes, especially after big rains
ROUTE: Start up Lower Macleay Trail, then take a sharp right onto Wildwood Trail at the Stone House. Left onto graveled NW Holman Ln to NW 53rd Dr. Walk to your right along the road for 100 meters to sign for Birch Trail on the right. Head down Birch, then turn right at intersection with Wildwood and return to Stone House. Left onto Lower Macleay to return to the parking lot.
DIRECTIONS: Park at Lower Macleay lot, 2999 NW Upshur St.
