Mahonia x media ‘Winter Sun’ – a winter-flowering hummingbird magnet. This evergreen shrub produces sprays of sunny yellow flowers, is fragrant and even offers modest drought-tolerance to the mix. Who wouldn’t want this in their garden? (OK, it’s a bit prickly. But some of us aren’t put off by that sort of thing!)
