The Hollywood Theatre recently completed a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund a new marquee. As an incentive, the red letters that are currently used on the old sign will be given to contributors as a memento.

Each year Hollywood Theatre screens some 300 films from all over the world. They also provide educational opportunities for over 500 young people and support multiple Oregon-based, independent film projects.

Shaolin monks. Animal fighting styles. Flying guillotines. Old-school sound effects. White-haired villains with maniacal laughter. This is Kung Fu Theater. Rare 35mm prints of Hong Kong action films from the 1970s and 80s. The Hollywood Theatre prides itself on saving these films and presenting them to modern audiences. They also sell cool T-shirts.

B-Movie Bingo Judge

Each first Tuesday of the month the Hollywood Theatre hosts B-Movie Bingo. The May feature was 'Omega Cop,' with bingo card squares filled with film cliches like "Male Pony Tail" and "Uzi." The event is run by the multimedia art collective Wolf Choir, whose Eric Dexter provides incisive commentary during the screening.

On May 11, 2013 The Hollywood Theatre presented Black Swan UNPLUCKED. an interactive evening featuring live dance excerpts from OBT’s own highly-acclaimed version of 'Swan Lake,' a screening of the Academy Award-Nominated movie 'Black Swan,' and a chance to chat with Interim Artistic Director Anne Mueller and company members.
