Eliot Glacier Public House – Parkdale
The bright and distinctive Parkdale Pale Ale is the house favorite. And the Red Hill Scottish Ale balances a potent punch (6.4 percent ABV) with a sweet and caramely finish. Grab a pint of either and head towards the back where a patio spills out into a vast pear orchard that’s home to a big red barn and knock-your-socks-off views of Mount Hood. elliotglacierpublichouse.com

Full Sail Brewery – Hood River
If ever a brew crew was ‘livin’ the dream’, its Full Sail’s. The taproom, just 20 minutes from the lifts, overlooks the wind-riding paradise that is the Columbia River. My pick: Session Lager, a sturdy, yet, easy-drinking malt beer. Distributed in retro-flaired stubbly bottles, this beer might also be world’s best hope for putting an end to that ridiculous PBR infatuation going on these days. fullsailbrewing.com

Double Mountain Brewery – Hood River
When Mount Hood Meadows turned forty back in 2007, they enlisted this upstart Hood River Brewery to craft an anniversary brew for the occasion. The Alpenbrew, full of complex earthy and spicy undertones, is what resulted. Drink it slope side at Meadows (the mountain is open weekends till the 16th) or drop by the brewery and order it with a brick-oven pizza. doublemountainbrewery.com

The Ice Axe Grill (Mount Hood Brewing Company) – Government Camp
On days when the Northwest’s heavy wet snows leave me soaked, Mount Hood Brewing Company’s Multorporter ale (named after a lift at Ski Bowl) is what I entrust to warm my bones. Smoky and smooth, it’s a rib-sticking, liquid fleece. For full-on internal combustion, team it up with some the Ice Axe’s spicy Asian Chicken wings. iceaxegrill.com
