But a growing number of Portland specialty bookstores are writing a new chapter. From indie stalwart Reading Frenzy to newer print renegades like Ampersand, Monograph, and Division Leap, they treat their highly curated selections of books as objects to be handled, relished, collected, and displayed—blurring the line between bookstore and gallery in deliciously unexpected and democratic ways.
