Since 2001, wood-fired bread guru Ken Forkish (finalist for the 2013 James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef) has carried the banner of Portland’s baking tradition on NW 21st Avenue with his Ken’s Artisan Bakery. There, he infuses his rustic loaves, croissants, walnut-graveled brown bread, and seasonally-inspired fruit tarts and pastries with a touch of country French elegance.
