Which doctor would you call if you or a loved one needed medical care?
That’s the question we asked more than 8,000 Portland-area physicians through our online survey. Doctors voted for up to two physicians each in as many as 48 different specialties. Next, we determined the statistically significant number of votes appropriate to each category in order to name this year’s top doctors.
The 329 names listed represent some, but by no means all, of the area’s best doctors. They have been chosen by fellow physicians, which may or may not be an accurate measure of what makes a great clinician. However, for anyone in search of a new doctor or specialist, Portland Monthly’s list is a good place to start.
The license status of each physician on our list has been verified with either the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners or the Washington State Department of Health. Physicians who indicated they are no longer accepting new patients are noted with an asterisk.
