Mike Darcy of KXL Radio's weekly program "In the Garden" hosts this annual event featuring six specialty nurseries presenting their new and favorite plants for 2013. Each presenter has 12 minutes to go wild describing (and showing sexy slides of) their fave new plants.
This year's presenters are Sean Hogan of Cistus Design Nursery, Leonard Foltz and Fred Weisensee of Dancing Oaks Nursery, Sue Milliken and Kelly Dodson of Far Reaches Farm, Roger Gossler of Gossler Farms Nursery, Marietta and Ernie O'Byrne of Northwest Garden Nursery and Burl Mostul of Rare Plant Research.
Each nursery will also bring a selection of their finest and favorite plants to sell to an adoring public. Click here to see which plants each nursery will bring at special prices. My favorite deal on the roster this year? Rare Plant Research selling one-gallon starter plants of Yucca rostrata for $10 a piece - wow! Tucked into a pretty little pot, there's the perfect centerpiece for a sunny outdoor table this summer. Northwest Garden Nursery is also offering Arisaema taiwanense for $8.50 a piece - a good deal on a striking plant that isn't easy to find in nurseries. There will also be lots of late winter blooming specialty plants like Cyclamen, hellebores and other treasures, as well as tropicals, conifers, bananas, gingers, olives and cool new manzanitas.
