The practice is strictly mercury-free, meaning absolutely no mercury amalgam is used in any dental restoration. Fillings are made of toothcolored composite resin. Other restorations are made of porcelain, including inlays, onlays and crowns.

For those with yellowed, discolored smiles, ZOOM!® whitening can brighten teeth up to nine shades lighter. For more difficult stains including tetracycline stains, the doctor can provide cosmetic bonding. If a more dramatic smile enhancement is requested, porcelain veneers can also be used. Thin sheets of ceramic, veneers are bonded directly to the front surfaces of the teeth correcting a number of imperfections. Their resemblance to healthy white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options.

Furthering their commitment to whole-body health, Aesthetic Dentistry is one of the few practices to use a VELscope for quick on-site oral cancer screening. “Cancer rates in so many areas have been reduced over time because of early detection”, says Dr. Bowden, “but oral cancer rates haven’t dropped since the 1950’s.” The VELscope will provide the early detection needed to diagnose and treat cancer in the early stages.
