EVENT DETAILS
Thumbnail for - Tabu Part of the Portland International Film Festival; winner of the FIPRESCI (International Film Critics) Award at the Berlin Film Festival. Tabu is told in two parts: the first in present-day Lisbon, centering on 80-year-old Aurora's life with her African, voodoo-practicing housemaid, Santa; the second in 1960s Mozambique, with the young and pregnant Aurora living with her husband near the fictional Tabu Mountain. Through voice-overs and dreamy black-and-white sequences, the story of Aurora's life, her risky pursuit of true love, and her quest's aftereffects are revealed.
