The Red Door Project, a local arts org that promotes race equity discussion through African American–themed arts in Portland, offers a title from Pulitzer winner August Wilson’s Pittsburgh Cycle. (Last season’s
Gem of the Ocean from Portland Playhouse was another entry.) The year is 1948, the city is Pittsburgh, and the theme is a funeral.
Seven Guitars is part of the city-wide
August Wilson Red Door Festival happening for the next ten weeks, that includes workshops, readings, and more theater performances.
