The Korean gayageum is a traditional zither-like, 12-string instrument dating back over 1000 years. The PSU Department of Music and Institute for Asian Studies are co-sponsoring a series of concerts featuring works by South Korean composer Dr. Hyun-Sue Chung for piano and gayageum. The evening also features Dr. Ae Soon Sung, a gayageum performer from the Traditonal Music Dept, Chonnam National University in South Korea; Dr. Hyun Ok Moon, pianist, also from Chonnam National University; and Dr. Julia Hwakyu Lee, adjunct professor of piano at Portland State University. This concert is part one of a two part series, see part two here.
