Part of the Portland International Film Festival. Winner of the Best Actor Ophir Award -- the Ophirs are Israel's Oscars -- and nominated in six other categories, Off-White Lies is a father-daughter bonding story and coming of age tale. Separated for years from her father after her parents' divorce, 13-year-old Libi returns to Israel to reunite with her dad, Shaul, a homeless, unsuccessful inventor. Shaul schemes to get them housing by posing as refugees of the Second Lebanon War, and, as Libi watches her father masquerade his way through another lie, she comes to terms with her propensity for straying from the truth in her own life, and the two forge a family bond over this somewhat unpalatable trait. Also showing 2/10 and 2/17 at Regal Lloyd Center.
