Writer-director Yûya Ishii follows the success for his 2010 Sawako Decides with another tale of a quirky girl coming into her. This time, the story centers around Mitsuko who, abandoned by her boyfriend and nine months pregnant, returns home for the first time in fifteen years. Persistently optimistic, she sets about caring for everyone around her—the landlady, her high school sweetheart—until realizing that she, too, could use a little help.
The film is a part of the NW Film Center's
Japanese Currents film series, showcasing the best of contemporary Japanese cinema.
