Kenny Garrett is the preeminent alto saxophonist of his generation. From his first gig over 30 years ago, his stellar career has brought him together with the Duke Ellington Orchestra on through to musicians such as Miles Davis, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, and Woody Shaw. Garrett always brings a vigorous, yet melodic, and truly distinctive voice to each musical situation. The Wall Street Journal says of Garrett, “The alto saxophonist telegraphs his end game decisively.” His quartet also features Vernell Brown, Corcoran Holt, McClenty Hunter, and Rudy Bird. Part of the Portland Jazz Festival, running Feb. 15-24.
