D'Hooge is Senior Principal Engineer and Innovation Strategist at Intel who is on a teaching sabbatical with the UO in Portland School of Architecture and Allied Arts. His talk, Smart and Connected: The Next Big Idea in Cities will provide a sampling of existing and future design innovations enabled by the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the urban environment and address how these innovations contribute to improving livability, economic prosperity, health of its citizens and visitors, and environmental sustainability.
