As part of
March Music Moderne, the Free Marz String Trio will play their composition "Sound Voyager: Live from Marz". The Trio is somewhat known for its untraditional performances, which can involve elements of dance and audience participation, and for playing nontraditional "classical" pieces by, for example, Jimi Hendrix and John Cage. This event will see the premiere of "The Rite to March", 10 new one-minute marches from Portland composers, based on Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring". March Madness Moderne artistic director Bob Priest was once a member of the Free Marz Trio, so this is likely to be particularly special evening at the start of this three-week celebration of contemporary classical music.
