Civil War Era Drawings from the Becker Collection
On the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, Cooley Gallery exhibits 140 original drawings from the Civil War era. Created by the country’s first embedded journalists, then called “special artists,” who were assigned to Union Army troops by national pictorial magazines, the illustrations document the hidden histories of life during the war as well as the horrors of the battlefield.
