Califone was born out of Chicago's bluesy alt-rock band, Red Red Meat. It began as singer Tim Rutili's folkier solo project, where he focused on creating songs out of "found objects." Joined by former bandmate Ben Massarella, the band records highly conceptual albums based on dreams, silent film, and stories—including a screenplay penned by Rutili himself. Califone is touring to promote the reissue (double LP, kids!) of their 10-year-old album, Sometimes Good Weather Follows Bad People.
