Thom Andersen and Morgan Fisher are filmmakers and longtime friends who teach film at the California Institute of the Arts and the European Graduate School, respectively. They began working independently and together in the mid-60s and their films tend toward the avant-garde variety, especially Anderson's provocative
Los Angeles Plays Itself. Their work has been shown at many prestigious art institutions and festivals internationally, including the Whitney Biennial, Tate Modern, and Portikus in Frankfurt, Germany. This retrospective of their work, presented by Yale Union and shown at the Hollywood Theater, will screen about 20 of their films, ranging from the very short to feature length.
