Shown as part of the Portland International Film Festival. As huge fans of
Totoro and all things Miyazaki, my kids and I are always on the lookout for new Japanese animated films. This addition to the PIFF won Grand Prize at the New York International Children’s Film Festival, so it's sure to make our list. The film's title refers to an unfinished letter Momo's father began writing her before he died. Momo and her mother moved from Tokyo to a small island after his death, where their life is disturbed by spirits in the attic of their new home.
Variety says of
Momo, "With its complex characterizations and multiple storylines, [
Momo] rivals mature live-action drama.” Also showing at Regal Lloyd Center on 2/12, see PIFF event webiste.
