Nicky USA’s 13th annual Wild About Game—a one-of-a-kind food festival featuring culinary competitions, cooking demonstrations, cookbook socials, and Oregon’s best game meats—returns on Sunday, September 8 for a jam-packed celebration of the Northwest’s finest boutique proteins.

The fest will take place at Mt. Hood’s historic Timberline Lodge, making it the perfect weekend getaway for Portland game enthusiasts. Attendees are invited to taste a range of regional delicacies at the Artisan Marketplace, have cookbooks signed by noted food authors, and watch cooking demonstrations by Portland’s Gabriel Rucker (Le Pigeon), Matt Christianson (Urban Farmer), and Dax Erickson (Multnomah Athletic Club).

Wild About Game’s crowning event is the celebrity chef cook-off, when Portland’s finest chefs take on their Seattle counterparts in a savory smackdown.

This year, Chris DiMinno (Clyde Common), Erik Van Kley (Little Bird), Patrick McKee (Paley’s Place), Aaron Barnett (St. Jack) and Ben Bettinger (Imperial) will be representing our mighty gastropolis. The Iron Chef-style competition features Nicky USA-sourced game, which may include rabbit, quail, elk, fallow venison, water buffalo, emu, and American bison. Guests will be invited to taste each dish and vote for their favorites.
