Make no mistake: Counter Culture, the annual celebration of urban street food and international wines that serves as a prelude to McMinnville's International Pinot Noir Celebration, is a countercultural event. Loaded with fire dancers and food carts, it defies the formal, organized nature of its swanky successor IPNC.
This year promises to be no different with sixteen Portland restaurants—including heavyweights like Pok Pok, Le Pigeon, and Smallwares—serving up bites alongside world-class Pinot Noir from Oregon, California, France, Canada, and New Zealand. Newcomers to the list of participating restaurants include Meat Cheese Bread, Imperial, and Portland’s newest falafel food cart, Chickpeadx.
“We’re also really excited about our winery lineup, which includes smaller producers like Lundeen, Dion, Big Table Farm and Crowley,” says Kimberly McLeod, Director of Sales & Marketing at Anne Amie Vineyards. These are just a few of the fifteen wineries that will be pairing their pours with the chefs’ street fare.
Counter Culture will take place Thursday, July 25, from 6 to 10 pm at Anne Amie Vineyards in Carlton. Tickets cost $75 and include all food and wine tastings. $100 gets in you in and round-trip ground transportation from Portland. Tickets can be purchased online via Anne Amie here.
