After opening an eighth Little Big Burger branch on NE Alberta Street with a bevy of free burgers less than a month ago, Portland's most prolific restaurant chainlet creationists/evangelists Micah Camden and biz partner Katie Poppe up the ante with the launch of his SE Division Street fried chicken shack, Son of a Biscuit.

The screaming teal spot will offer free full chicken meals (a piece of fried chicken, a biscuit, and a side) to the first 1,000 customers through the door starting 2 pm this Saturday, June 21 until they run out. The down home restaurant officially opens next Wednesday, June 25—hours are 11 am to 11 pm daily. 

The S.O.B. team has been tinkering with the recipe for its signature chicken and tall, crusty biscuits for more than a month, in between opening burger joints and launching the second location of Camden and Poppe's Blue Star Donut on Hawthorne. After what Camden terms an "insane" pop up at Pearl District saloon River Pig to test out their fried chicken's spice and crunch on hungry drinkers last week, he says they've nailed it.

Go give it a nibble yourself and see whether the kingpin's locally sourced clucker meals live up to his goal of smoking fast food chain Popeye's at its own deep fried game. Or, even better, it they approach the hallowed perch of Portland fried chicken royalty, and fellow Division Street business, Reel M Inn.
