The Tart Institute at Two Tarts Bakery

What: After a year’s hiatus, baking classes at Two Tarts are back! The latest series will include lessons on Parisian macarons, two-bite tassies,  and custard-style ice cream.
When: Throughout the month of April. Check out the Two Tarts website for a full schedule. Classes begin at 6 pm.

Kelly's Jelly Food Cart Recipe Challenge

What: Local pepper jelly maven Kelly Calabria has organized a spicy competition featuring six Portland food carts and one spicy ingredient. Food cart fans will be able to try exclusive dishes made with Kelly's Habanero jelly at Koi Fusion, Cheese Plate PDX, Fried Egg I'm in Love, PBJ's Grilled, Gaufre Gourmet, and 808 Grinds. 
When: Public voting for the best dish will take place online between April 18 and 23.
Where: Food carts around Portland.

Clarklewis Brewer’s Dinner with Widmer Brothers

What: Clarklewis chef Kyo Koo and Widmer Brothers' Doug Rehberg have teamed up to offer a four-course farm-to-table menu created to complement select beer pairings from Widmer.
When: Wednesday, April 17 at 6:30 pm
Where: Clarklewis, 1001 Southeast Water Ave #160

Portland’s Cheers to Belgian Beers

What: The annual Cheers to Belgian Beers festival hosted by the Oregon Brewers Guild is back with . This quasi-academic beer summit draws brewmasters from across the city and state presenting beers (many made with the same strain of Belgian yeast) to be compared and judged by Stumptown’s beer-savvy crowd. Food will be available for purchase from Philadelphia’s Steaks & Hoagies Friday and KOI Fusion.
When: Saturday, April 20 from noon to 8 pm
Where: Metalcraft Fabrication, 723 N. Tillamook St
How Much: Free admission, $15 for five drink tickets and a stemmed tasting glass, $20 for ten drink tickets and a glass.

Smokefest at The Beer Mongers

What: The Beer Mongers are hosting Smokefest featuring several smoked beers, smoked ciders, and smoked food. The taplist is set to include Dogfish Head's Immort Ale (Smoked Maple Strong Ale), Reverend Nat's Smokey Sweet (Smoked Cider), 10 Barrel's Smoke Screen (Smoked Scottish Ale), and Heater Allen's Rauch Dunkel (Smoked Black Lager).
When: Saturday, April 20 from 11 am to midnight 
Where: The Beer Mongers, 1125 SE Division St
How Much: Pint prices vary.

Ox's First Anniversary Party:

What: Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñónez Denton will celebrate one year of rave reviews on NE MLK with complementary glasses of bubbly for all diners of age, as well as $10 gift certificates for future use at Ox or Whey Bar.

Oregon Garden Brewfest

What: This annual botanical garden beer festival features over 60 breweries pouring 125 brews to the beat of live music from 22 bands, as well as tasting instruction from Women Enjoying Beer and an Oregon Garden Homebrew Competition.
When: April 26-28 (full schedule here)
Where: The Oregon Garden, 879 West Main St, Silverton, Oregon
How Much: For pre-orders, a one-day tasting package (including admission, tasting mug, 7 tasting tickets, and priority entrance) is $15, two-day tasting package (admission, mug, 14 tasting tickets, and priority entry) is $25. Tickets available here.

Red Ridge Farms Olive Oil Pastry Class

What: An afternoon baking class in wine country featuring guest pastry chef Michelle Vernier of Paley's Place, Imperial, and Portland Penny Diner. Guests will learn several techniques for incorporating olive oil into everyday baking and pastry preparations, including salt and pepper focaccia, spring vegetable and goat cheese tart with lemon olive oil crust, olive oil cake with honey plumped apricots, Arbequina olive oil gelato with roasted rhubarb, and blood orange olive oil truffles
When: Sunday, April 28 from 1 to 3 pm
How Much: $75 per person including cooking demonstration, tastes of the full menu, olive oil samples, and a glass of Durant Vineyards wine. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Red Ridge Farms at 503-864-8502 or emailing info@redridgefarms.com.

The 2013 Oyster Bus Tour

What: The team behind the Parish and EaT: An Oyster Bar are partnering with Double Mountain and Trumer Pils brewing to trek to Chelsea Shellfish Farms, where the chefs will prepare lunch. Guests will eat a bunch of Oysters, drink some beer, enjoy a tour of the facility, and learn about oyster aqua culture.
When: Saturday, April 27 departing at 9 am, returning early evening.
Where: The bus will leave from EaT: An Oyster Bar in Portland.
How Much: $85 per person, which includes transport, beer, wine, morning pastries, coffee, and picnic lunch at the farm. Call EaT: An Oyster Bar to buy your tickets at 503-281-1222.
