On the heels of food cart transformations from Cubo de Cuba, Brunch Box, and Pie Spot, Addy’s Sandwich Bar joins the conversation. The food cart staple has been slinging duck confit sandwiches and addictive chocolate olive oil baguettes on Little T bread since 2009. No more resetting the circuit breaker for a tiny toaster oven or filling jugs with communal water everyday. Addy’s Sandwich Bar is opening a brick & mortar in the former Allspice Deli space (911 SW 10th Ave) on SW 10th and Taylor.
Just a few blocks south from the cart’s current location, the new 350-square-foot, 15-seat storefront will boast a whole new breakfast service, featuring rotating egg and cheese sandwiches and grab-n-go bites like granola parfait. Lunch will bring all of the same classics, with a new panini-pressed menu from turkey and cranberry sandwiches dripping with gooey Brie to ham, pickle, and Dijon creations, cloaked in melting Gruyere. Dinner service is a possibility, with beer and wine on the way.
Owner Addy Bittner is aiming for April of 2013. In the meantime, major renovations are underway, with dark, reclaimed wood floors, white subway tiles, and chalkboard menus in the works. In back, ample kitchen space will be used to grow Addy’s catering side. In front, expect a six-person sandwich bar with standing tables lining the windows, along with ample sidewalk seating in the warmer months. “Its scary—a whole new adventure,” says Bittner “but this is what I wanted Addy’s to be from the beginning—like a Parisian sandwich shop.” Tentative opening hours are Monday-Saturday, 8am-4pm. Stay tuned for more details.
