NEW YORK DINING IS SERIOUS. LA is wild, and Austin is, well, barbecued. Portland’s restaurant scene is something else: the land of personal experiences. A food-first, casual attitude makes it easy to pull up to a white tablecloth, head out to an Asian strip mall, or venture into a maverick food-cart pod and find a moment or a meal that feels custom-made for pure joy. Pull up a chair, and let us serve you a taste of Portland’s best food plays of the year.

Finally a restaurant guide that is user friendly and extremely well written & researched. This guide offers a new approach that really lets readers “in” on where to go, what to order, and how to appreciate Portland’s amazing restaurant scene with fresh eyes. We are truly fortunate to have such terrific food and talented writers to tell us all about what’s going on in PDX. Thank you for your smartly written guide.
The 2011 food guide is really helpful and super well researched. I will put it to good use immediately as I’ve got family coming from the East Coast for T-giving and they are complete foodies. I know that they are going to be impressed and amazed to find the depth and variety of the Portland food world that this guide so clearly demonstrated. And I am proud to show off what Portland has to offer with this stellar guide.
I was hoping to find some great new insights into Portland’s terrific restaurant presence. I guess it would be too much to ask to actually do a bit more than we could already find in the 2 fish wrappers in town that already do annual restaurant reviews and pick the best in town. No thinking outside the box here… pretty disappointing way to waste $5. It’s like your reviewers were so lazy they just read what the others were saying and reprinted it themselves. You can do better, or were the restaurants paying the mag for a bit of glossy coverage?
Maybe next month they do some really insightful research and tell us which are the best zoos and best airports in town…
I am a recent PDX transplant and I am thrilled to have such an authoritative and complete guide to the fantastic food scene in Portland. My mouth watered as I read and fantasized about all of the amazing options discussed in the great guide.
