What do you get when you take the traditional pin up girl pose, but put in a man instead?
Posted by: Eden Dawn on Dec 05, 2011 at 09:00AM
We’ve all seen the traditional pin up girl pose. A coy little expression at the camera coupled with folding the delicate female frame in order to enhance every womanly curve. But what happens when photographer Rion Sabean puts bearded boys into the same sultry poses of the Vargas girl?
Answer: An awesome calendar plus a good chuckle.

A killer editorial of a new line in town.
Posted by: Eden Dawn on Oct 24, 2011 at 07:00AM
Designer Jessie DeSue has a history in town, you just might not know it yet. She’s interned for Adam Arnold, designed clothing for Dunderdon and has a fashion degree under her belt. But until now, the idea for her own line, Saint Elyns, has taken a back seat to other work. To debut the pieces, DeSue hired local photographer Lavenda Memory to shoot a dreamy cool fashion spread that’s sure to kick start a fan base.

The Belmont boutique shows off the goods in pretty pictures.
Posted by: Eden Dawn on Sep 28, 2011 at 12:00AM
In a trend that couldn’t be more awesome, local boutiques keep putting out their own lookbooks. It’s a fun/easy way for the “visual learner” to get a quick cheat sheet on exactly what kind of shopper belongs. Palace boutique off Belmont shot a dreamy piece piece with accomplished photographer Randall Garcia that will make you want to storm the shop. And with a killer mix of both new and vintage items (at a reasonable price), there’s no reason not to.

While most 13 year olds might be scoping crushes at the mall and talking loudly on their cell phones for hours on end, Elle Fanning is upping the ante. Little sister to actress Dakota, Elle skips past the whole awkward kid-to-young-adult clothing phase as the new face of Marc by Marc Jacobs. The new ad campaign, for fall 2011, just debuted and the blonde beauty looks a complete natural for the collection.
Look out tweens, life just got a little tougher.

The beloved local shoe store shows off its latest department with a fancy lookbook.
Posted by: Eden Dawn on Jun 22, 2011 at 09:00AM
As if Solestruck shoe store didn’t already do enough to decimate our wallets, they’ve gone and added a whole new department. The Department of Antiquities consists of killer vintage shoes sourced from top locations across the country. In one web browsing session you can ogle perfectly distressed boots and dainty strappy sandals with the perfect amount of embellishing. To celebrate the debut of this ever-evolving bunch Solestruck sent their fashion crew out to the Oregon desert for a Lookbook photo shoot and came back with some pretty cool pictures.

I unabashedly love the 90’s. It was my era. I worshipped Nirvana, big mall hair, pagers and Reality Bites and Singles are still in a tie for my favorite movie. I “might have” even had a framed picture of Eddie Vedder on my nightstand at one point (that can be neither confirmed, nor denied). My secret 90’s flame is fanned these days with the return of baby doll dresses, Blossom style hats, clogs and so much more. That’s why I was so excited to stumble upon Life magazine’s slideshow devoted entirely to looks from the 90’s. I pulled out a few of my favorites, but you can click the link to see the whole bunch. It’s enough to make a girl want to Shoop.

Photographer Ashley Anthony sent me these fantastic new pictures from her most recent shoot. They remind me of photos I’ve seen in my parents old albums from parties where I imagine Led Zeppelin and Spin the Bottle were involved. You know, the best kind of parties.

Get into the groove of our latest fashion shoot.

If you haven’t seen your April issue yet, you are missing out on the 70’s inspired editorial I slaved over. (Albeit, with some amazing help.) A 16 hour shoot day with weeks of prep before, brought to life Night Moves and its head to toe looks styled with over 130 borrowed items from 56 different designers that came from 26 local stores. See it online here and check out our video proving you can whistle (or do the hustle) while you work.

Photography so good, I feel a little intimidated.

These photos are so fierce I think the odds of Tyra Banks showing up in Portland just to shake her finger and say “Fiiiieeeerrrccee” are pretty good. And if it’s not Tyra, then Lady Gaga herself might show up to ferry designer Bryce Black away to make her custom capes for years to come. I would be happy with either situation (although Pdx would miss Black).
