Uncork the Pork
Bakon Vodka beckons
I love getting packages in the mail here at PM central, because most of the time it’s booze. Today’s box of joy comes from Bakon Vodka in Seattle, Washington. As you can see by the photo, it is indeed a “premium” bacon-flavored vodka that could theoretically add some much-needed porky goodness to my liquor cabinet.
The friendly folks at Bakon included some tomato juice and Bloody Mary seasoning, hoping that yours truly would take it for a test drive (not literally—I do not drink and drive. In fact, I don’t drive at all). They also sent along some recipes. What do you think?
The Bakon Mary
• 2 oz Bakon Vodka
• 1 dash celery salt, black pepper, lemon (or lime) juice and Tabasco
• 2-4 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
• one-eighth teaspoon of horseradish
Fill highball glass with tomato juice (or Clamato for a Caesar) and add seasoning. Garnish with pickled veggies and/or celery.
Chocolate Bakon Martini
• 1 part Bakon Vodka
• 1 part chocolate liqueur
• A splash of cream
Combine in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Strain and pour into a martini glass.
Actually, they suggest a “sugar-rimmed” martini glass, but it’ll be a cold day in Muspelheim before I deign soil my palate with such frippery.
But surely there must be more uses for Bakon Vodka that we’re overlooking. Enlighten me, drinking buddies! Write down a bitchin’ bacon cocktail recipe in the comments section. I’ll send the best one back to Bakon Vodka and see if they’ll name it after me (us). Get cracking!

Because bacon wrapped around pineapple chunks is so tasty, I imagine that Bakon vodka would be tasty in pineapple juice. xoxo
Bad news. The Hawaiian Luau is on their website.
1 1/2 oz Bakon vodka
3 oz pineapple juice
1/2 oz Butterscotch Schnapps
You’ll have to think outside the box, Bex.
I’m thinking eggs. Something with eggs. And rosemary & salt? Ooo … smoked salt rim!
So maybe something like Bakon Vodka, egg, salt & pepper, and ground rosemary on top.
Along the lines of a modified Prairie Chicken:

A Prairie Bakon!
Eggs & Bacon — (chocolate bacon egg cream)
1 part bacon vodka
1 part caramel vodka
1 part chocolate milk
1 part soda
Pour over ice in a pint glass with a salt and sugar rim (also great with shaken egg white foam)
…you can also substitute caramel sauce for the caramel vodka in that E&B recipe… which is a XtinaVK original… and delicious…
omg, Xtina, that is so gross! what about just a touch of Bakon in a glass of bourbon? that would eliminate the trouble of chewing from my usual breakfast
@skeptical Have you never had an egg cream? It’s a soda shop classic…
What about a variation on the tired old Lynchberg Lemonade. Except, this time with bacon.
1 part bacon vodka
1 part sweet and sour mix
1 part triple sec
4 parts sprite soda
Course, if were to vote for faves listed on the website, I say: Pepper Bakon Margarita. Mmm. Mmm.
Is there actual bacon in the vodka? If so, then as a vegetarian, I cannot participate. If not, then as a person of taste, I also cannot participate.
Bakon Vodka is Vegan!!! So vegetarians can enjoy the ‘pork’ too. There is an Irish Boar recipe on the site which would be good for next Thursday!
