Adrenaline-fueled power punk trio the Thermals just released the video for the first single, “Born to Kill,” from their upcoming album, Desperate Ground. The video has singer-guitarist Hutch Harris playing a blood-splattered psycho killer who’s getting interrogated and pistol whipped by fellow band members, bassist Kathy Foster and drummer Westin Glass. Co-directed by the band and local filmmaker Jeffrey Rowles, the video really seems an excuse for Harris to smear himself in dirt and fake blood (and can you blame him—it’s very cathartic).

It’s supposed to be sunny and warm this weekend; hopefully this little gore fest will get you in the mood to explore Portland’s pristine outdoor settings. Just watch your back.

Read our review of Desperate Ground, which is due out April 16. The Thermals play a record release show at Branx on April 20.
