Oscar-nominated director and Portlander Gus Van Sant helped local homeless-youth social service group Outside In commemorate its fortieth anniversary by hosting a premiere party for his new film, Milk. Held at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on November 14, the red-carpet soirée drew 2,300 revelers, including A-listers like Portland director Todd Haynes and Milk star James Franco.
