Portland Spaces , Portland Monthly ’s sister publication, debuted the Root Awards on November 12. The juried competition hailed local standout designers and architecture firms in twenty-two categories, including furniture and community space. Held at the Portland Art Museum’s Kridel Grand Ballroom, the celebratory gala attracted more than five hundred attendees and helped establish the Portland Spaces Root Awards Scholarship Fund for students of architecture, interior design, and construction.
