August 5 update: You can now stream White Lighter at NPR and pre-order the album at Tender Loving Empire.

We’ve been waiting for months to find out when the new Typhoon album, White Lighter, is due out. A date has finally arrived via the Wall Street Journal’s blog: August 20. WSJ is also offering a downloadable track of catchy horns and piano, “Dreams of Cannibalism.”

Also of bittersweet note, the band has transferred from Portland-label Tender Loving Empire, which released the band's other albums and was originally set to release this one, to Los Angeles–based Roll Call Records, which seems to cater in cutely named bands: Eyes Lips Eyes, On An On, Army Navy, and Wintersleep.

Have a listen, and stay tuned for more.
