Q: Tell me about Tualatin…

A: Tualatin is a great area and community to live. It is right outside of Portland and lies along the Tualatin River, from which it was named. The city has a rich history dating back to the 1850’s and a foundation in being a family friendly city with 40% of its population having kids under the age of 18. There are many incredible parks such as Ibach Park and Jurgen’s Park. Ibach Park is a great place to take the children as it has an award winning play area representing Tualatin’s vibrant history. Jurgen’s Park has been around since the 1930’s and while its border has changed the welcoming attitude has not. It is full of neighborhood activity and fun playgrounds for kids of all ages. There is also a fabulous farmer’s market at Tualatin Commons every Friday from 4 to 8 with cooking demonstrations and a great atmosphere right by the lake! Tualatin Commons also hosts a summer concert series that is incredibly family friendly. The area is a great place to raise children, with good schools and a brand new library with a free reading program during the summer for kids of all ages. There is always something going on. One of the staples is the Tualatin Crawfish Festival, which is going to be August 13th and 14th this year and is one of the oldest crawfish festivals in the nation. Check it out and see what you think of the area! I love Tualatin, it is an affordable community compared to its neighbor Lake Oswego and with so much to offer you better catch while catch can!
