 O Magazine, the monthly chronicle of Oprah’s favorite things, has a history of showing Bridgetown the love, and this month is no exception. 

Portland's own Bamboo Sushi gets the profile treatment in the September "Makeover" issue's Great Transformations feature, highlighting Kristofor Lofgren's dedication to "guilt-free" seafood. Bamboo's charcuterie plate (featuring tuna blood sausage, house-smoked fish, and seafood paté) drew the attention of the feel-good magazine, as well as the option to order a whole shark on the menu...for adoption, that is. Bamboo Sushi opened in 2008 on SE 28th Avenue, heralded as the country’s first “certified” sustainable sushi restaurant. Lofgren's second Bamboo Sushi location debuted on NW 23rd in June of this year, with a renewed commitment to über-eco-friendly construction in addition to sustainable seafood sourcing.
