If you’re ready for a twist on the ordinary fashion show, you might like Fashion Feud. The event is an expansion from the one already happening in San Francisco and can best be described as a cross between Project Runway and Iron Chef. Two competing designers have their materials unveiled to them on stage and get exactly one hour to construct an ensemble from those materials. At the giant gong after one hour, models walk the runway and a panel of judges selects the most successful design. Sounds fun and potentially disastrous (which sounds fun also).
There will be three rounds with the winner of each round going into the Grand Finale. I have been asked to be a judge for both Round 1 and the Finale and my ego is pleased. First round designers have already been chosen, but submissions are still being accepted subsequent rounds.
CALL FOR DESIGNERS!
Are you an independent, local apparel designer with a competitive spirit?
Fashion Feud Portland is holding open casting for involvement in their live fashion design competition. Designers are given a mystery bag of material, a live model, a hair and makeup team, and an hour to create a design. The finished designs are presented by the models to a live audience and then voted on by both the audience and a panel of local industry judges. This event is a great way to showcase your talent in a fun, non-traditional format. Designers compete for bragging rights, advancement to the final round, and a cash prize! There is no pre-production work necessary on the part of the designer – just show up ready to rock! *Designers must bring their own sewing machine and tools.
