Here on Eat Beat, we love tooting our town’s horn when it comes to national press and awards, and this month is no exception:

In the February 2013 issue of Bon Appetit Magazine, Portlander Deena Prichep joins the ranks of journalists cashing in on the Pacific Northwest's specific brand of cool with a two-page spread of local products and places.

Introducing to goods, Prichep notes: "While the bike riding, espresso guzzling, and jam making may dip into hipster ridiculousness at times (see Portlandia) the region's restaurants, artisanal producers, and woodsy aesthetic influence how the rest of us eat, drink, and live."

The 10-item roundup, dubbed The Northwest Express, includes national-rag regulars like Jacobsen Sea Salt, Duane Sorenson's Woodsman Tavern, and Olympic Provisions charcuterie alongside the lesser-known Portland-based Sweetpea Bicycles.

Yes, a few Washington picks made the cut (like Olympia's Batdorf & Bronson coffee and Churchkey Beer from Seattle) but the lead photo proudly portrays the above bearded, inked server at the Woodsman holding Dungeness Crab. Once again, little sister city steals the spotlight.
