For some of us, memories of a ski holiday are fresh as the powder we love to ski on. But the atmosphere back here in town is not so pristine. Asphalt gleams in the rain, the skies are grey, and the fir trees are just plain green. At home, how do we get back the cozy, pleasantly exhausted feeling of hanging out in the ski lodge after a good day on the mountain? Throw yourself a little apres-ski party. A fireplace or wood stove will help, but these aren't necessary.
Ski lodge spirit can start with a sign. Vintage-style wood signs from ArteHouse will remind you of where you've been (and want to get back to). The charming, bold graphics include poster designs enticing you to ski at Timberline Lodge, Mt. Bachelor, Park City, Snowbird, Jackson Hole, Telluride, Vail, Aspen...even Michigan. The graphics are printed in archival ink directly onto hand-distressed wood, backed with a sawtooth hanger for immediate hanging.
For the apres-ski-at-home party, throw in a soft, cozy throw (especially if you don't have a fireplace to warm you up). A Pendleton blanket will do the job, but why not try a snow-white feather soft throw from Tourance? Some of the 45" x 60" blankets in the Rosebud Duotone line come in ivory snow shades tinged with soft blue, or pink, or minty pale green – reminding you that real snow isn't really just white, it's a zillion shades of blue and pink and green and lavender and gold, depending on the light and shadows.
