Elegant Southern Picnic

  • True to its title, the south was conjured up with voluminous crinolines, tiered petals and ruffled gowns paired with large Tulle headpieces.
  • Favorite number was designer Tara Keely’s last gown when the model revealed the Tulle skirt could be removed revealing a more versatile cute lace mini dress underneath.

Grecian Beach Soiree

  • Leanne Marshall, winner of Project Runway season 5, unveiled her new spring 2012 bridal line. Indeed, the models looked like beautiful statues come to life with beautiful draping, undulating chiffon and lace with beaded headbands.

Glam Rock

  • The energy picked up noticeably as the models showed more attitude walking to upbeat music for the glam rock theme. Textured tulle and organza, beaded lace tops and jeweled ribbon belts completed the glam look but I am not sure where the rock was represented. Either way, the audience clearly enjoyed it.
  • Favorite gown was an Ivory embroidered net art deco dress with organza ruffle tiers and a sweeping train.

Fierce Whimsy

  • More dresses by Lazaro as well as Claire Pettibone presented a combination of wide crinolines and backless A-line gowns with accents of whimsical long veils, textured organza skirts, and beaded lace.
  • Claire Pettibone’s "Flora" stunned with ivory flowers on gold vines cascading down and a sensual open back.

Portland Architecture

  • Sculptural draping with beaded head veils transported us back to the roaring 20’s when Art Deco peaked.
  • Tara Keely’s Ivory Mikado organza wave mini dress was the most architecturally inspired dress. Tres chic!

Finale gowns by Karina Reed

  • Art Institute of Portland’s, Karina Reed, winner of the 2012 CHOICE Contest, showed two dresses that closed the architectural line up with a beaded top piece resembling steel beams with a sweetheart neckline gown aptly named St. John’s, and a short modern dress named Ross Island with cut out shapes.

Leanne Marshall called Reed to the stage to receive her award and closed out a successful show while attendees continued to consume scrumptious desserts provided by wedding caterers.
