Two New Podcasts for Portland Foodies
Portland's culinary experts are hitting the mics to examine the city's flourishing food landscape.
Great news, podcast listeners! The polar vortex has most of America huddled under a mountain of blankets, and while Portland is relatively balmy, we suggest staying home and cozying up by the fireplace—you know, in solidarity. And while you’re enjoying your extra vacation, we suggest listening to two delicious new podcasts celebrating Portland’s food and drink scene:
In Right At The Fork, Heather Jones and Portland Food Adventures’ Chris Angelus with host in-depth, behind-the-scenes interviews with the culinary talent behind our local food & beverage industry. January’s featured guests include Yelp! Portland’s Don Bourassa, Food Carts Portland’s Brett Burmeister, and Xico’s Mindy Keith, and future guests will range from baristas and chefs to winemakers and chocolatiers. The 30-40 minute show is uploaded weekly, and the first episode was uploaded earlier today; be among the first to listen and download here.
In Food Radio Portland, presented by Feast Portland, Carrie Welch and Mike Thelin will explore the latest national food trends, and discuss how these wider trends relate to Portland. Listeners can expect opinions, debates, and controversies galore on this hour-long talk show. Food Radio Portland will debut with the launch of X-RAY FM, Portland’s new progressive radio station.
Right at the Fork and Food Radio Portland are the latest in a line of local culinary-centric podcasts, from Stumptown Vegans to Edible Portland’s new Underground Airwaves. Could internet radio overtake blogging as the new way to explore Portland’s food landscape? It may be too soon to tell, so while we wait for Portland’s foodie-media future to unfold, we’ll stay home under this pile of blankets.
