Bike with a Brewer
What: Join Gigantic Brewing’s Van Havig as he explores his favorite neighborhood breweries by bike—including tastings and tours at Cascade Brewing, Lucky Lab, The Commons, Havester, and Gigantic. At 4 miles, the trip is more leisurely booze cruise than boot camp, but avoid the cycling DUI and sip smartly.

Ice Cream Churn-a-ment
What: The annual ice cream challenge hosted by The Dairy Farmers of Oregon returns to Pioneer Courthouse Square this Friday with a new lineup of frozen treat aficionados—including folks from Ned Ludd, Ava Gene’s, Aviary, St. Jack, 50 Licks, and Smallwares. Watch as they battle for best taste award using wooden, hand-cranked ice cream churns.
When: Friday, July 12 from noon to 1 pm.

How Much: Free!
The Planetary Sculpture Supper Club
What: Discuss food controversies and alternative culinary futures and at this 6-course experimental supper club dinner. Hosted by The Center of Genomic Gastronomy, the event promises to dish out unusual cuisines and exciting conversations. To infinity and beyond!
When: Saturday, July 13 at 7 pm.
Where: The Good Mod,1313 W Burnside St.
How Much: Tickets are $75 per person, with drink pairings included. Tickets available online via Planetary Sculpture Supper Club.
Country Chef Challenge at the Portland Farmers Market
What: Find out what three chefs can do with $50, thirty minutes, and a farmers market at the 3rd annual Country Chef Challenge. Local tastemakers Jake Martin (Genoa), Kelly Myers (Xico), and Jobie Bailey (DOC) go head-to-head for the title of Master of the Market.
When: Monday, July 15 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Bastille Day Celebration at R. Stuart & Co.
What: Celebrate Bastille Day the right way with classic French fare from St. Jack’s Aaron Barnett paired with R. Stuart & Co wines. Surround yourself with the sights of beautiful Dundee Hills and the sounds of traditional French folk music and dancing provided by Mistral.
When: Sunday, July 14 from 1 to 4 pm.

Ice Cream for Planned Parenthood
What: Beat the heat with ice cream for a cause. What’s the Scoop? is donating 50% of the sales of select pre-ordered pints to Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon. Feast on a variety of flavors, including a special Pink Power ice cream for the occasion with raspberry jam and habanero chili, which can be pre-ordered or purchased in store on Thursday, August 1.
When: Pre-order pints no later than Friday, July 19 or purchase in-store on Thursday, August 1 from 5 to 8 pm.
Where: What’s the Scoop?, 3540 N Williams Ave.
How Much: $8 per pint. Pints can be ordered online via Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon.
Beer Pairing Dinner with Breakside Brewery at Smallwares
What: Breakside Brewing unveils their latest collaborative beer series, the Smallwares Saison, at this 5-course dinner with inauthentic Asian all-star chef Johanna Ware. Guests will enjoy Breakside brews alongside dishes like grilled shrimp with aji amarillo, lychee, pink peppercorn, and chive and Flank steak with apricots, mustard seed, red onion, parsley.
When: Thursday, July 18 at 6 pm.
Where: Smallwares, 4605 NE Fremont St.

What: Taste the rainbow of Rieslings at this daytime soiree at Illahe Vineyards featuring various vintages from five different wineries including Love & Squalor, Mad Violets, Ovum and Teutonic Wine Company, and Illahe Vineyards. Food pairings from Sauvage and Xico will be available alongside “Riesling appropriate” vinyl from DJ Sanju.
When: Saturday, July 20 from 11 am to 5 pm.
Where: Illahe Vineyards, 3275 Ballard Rd., Dallas
How Much: $10 advance ticket when purchased before July 19 at noon or $12 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online via Teutonic Wines.
Hands On Raw Food Class at Abby’s Table
What: Make the most of your summer produce with a hands on raw food class taught by Abby’s Table Chef Abby Fammartino. Learn recipes like hand cured summer vegetable and herb salad and raw beet ravioli with an oregano pesto 'ricotta’.
When: Saturday, July 27 from 11 am to 2 pm.
