Identifying Fish Basics Slow Food Seminar
What: An educational "School of Fish" panel discussion exploring seafood sourcing, labeling, advocacy, and other current concerns. Learn how to make choices that help ensure a future of good fish and a healthy environment with help from experts like Phaedra Booth of the Pacific Fish Conservation Campaign, Lyf Gildersleeve of Flying Fish Company, and Jennifer Q. Norris of Riffle NW.
When: Thursday, June 20 at 7 pm.

◊ Celebrate the summer solstice with a multi-course Danubian Feast at Grüner on Thursday, June 20. Expect special dishes from the Danube River valley like stuffed cabbage rolls, Brandy-flamed mushrooms, and German sour cherry soup alongside bitters, brandies, eau-de-vie, and schnapps served up by barmaster Jessica Braasch.
Water Ave. Coffee Brunch at Wildwood
What: The coffee masters of Water Ave will showcase their single origin beans (plus a special PB&J blend the roaster makes for Wildwood). Dishes are set to include strawberry jam coffee cake with Nutella and cocoa nib whipped cream, goat cheese and house chorizo frittatas, and grilled pork chops with coffee puree and honey roasted rhubarb, each with specialty coffee pairings.
When: Saturday, June 22 at 1 pm.
Where: Wildwood, 1221 NW 21st Ave.

◊ Learn the secrets of shaping and making handmade pretzels on Saturday, June 22 with cookbook author Andrea Slonecker as she teaches simple tips and tricks for mastering the snack at home. Plus, there’s no need to take notes since attendees go home with a copy of Pretzel Making at Home.
Pronto Pizza Dinner with Breakside Brewery
What: A new slice star has hit the unlikely constellation of 82nd Drive, powered by Neapolitan pizzas, fresh house made pastas, and farmer’s market salads. Get to know the new eatery with Pronto Pizza and Breakside Brewery's collaborative pairing dinner, featuring Northwest-inspired Italian fare like veal, pork, and beef meatballs, polenta fries, panzanella packed with cucumber, early girl and sun gold tomatoes, fresh basil, and pickled onion, housemade fettucini with porcini mushrooms and housemade ricotta, a pizza bar with seasonal and signature pizzas, plus fresh-baked ice cream cookie sandwiches.
When: Sunday, June 23 at 5:30 pm.
Where: Pronto Pizza, 16050 SE 82nd Dr.
How Much: $25 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets include five courses and beer pairings and can be purchased via Brown Paper Tickets.
Firehouse Beer Pairing Dinner with The Commons Brewery
What: A five-course dinner showcasing The Commons' farmhouse-style brews with a menu inspired by French and Italian farmhouse fare. Dishes will include tomato braised octopus and aioli with hearth baked pugliese, pizza bianca with squash blossoms and sheep milk ricotta, and grilled hanger steak with hand cut fries and anchovy butter.
When: Monday, June 24 at 6 pm.
Where: Firehouse, 711 NE Dekum St.
How Much: $60 per person includes five-course dinner with beer pairings and gratuity. Reservations can be made by calling Firehouse at 503-954-1702.
My Oregon Summer: Besaw’s Farm to Table Dinner at Whole Foods
What: Besaw’s Executive Chef Michael Uhnak will partner with Whole Foods Market for a four-course farm to table dinner featuring seared scallops over pickled beets and braised kale and stuffed flank steak with sweet potato purée and asparagus.
When: Tuesday, June 25 at 6:30 pm.
Where: Mezzanine at the Pearl District Whole Foods, 1210 NW Couch St.
