SE Clinton: Chad Draizin has narrowed down the opening date for his Fifty Licks brick-and-mortar scoop shop. The new ice cream central will debut in June next door to St. Jack, offering twelve French custard-style flavors plus two soft-serve selections, gluten-free cones, and unique toppings like candied rosemary and potato chips. SE Milwaukie: Wood-fired pizza and bagel eatery Tastebud is closed for "restructuring, reorganizing and refiguring," according to owner Mark Doxtader. Plans are in the works for a new bakery, a new pizzeria, a new mobile wood-fired over, and more wholesale bagels. SE Milwaukie: Twenty-tap Relish Gastropub is now open in the Sellwood-Moreland space most recently home to the Woods music venue. NE Sandy: More new bagels! Bethany Venooker's hand-rolled, boiled, and baked Blackheart Bagels will open a new retail location on Friday, February 22nd at 6 am. NE Fremont: New donut and coffee shop Pip's Original is now serving made-to-order mini donuts (with toppings like Ceylon cinnamon sugar or pink sea salt and raw honey) alongside locally-roasted Extracto coffee. Wine Country: Southern Oregon has a brand new AVA! The new 74,900-acre viticultural area, dubbed Elkton Oregon AVA, is situated within the Umpqua Valley AVA but is characterized by a cooler climate than the rest of the Southern Oregon winegrowing regions, as influenced by its close proximity to the Pacific. The Elkton Oregon AVA is currently home to twelve commercial wineries focusing on Pinot Noir and will be active as of March 7th. More information here.
