1. Buffalo Exchange
It may be a mecca for the “Keep Portland Weird” crowd, but don’t let its tattooed staff and kooky period clothes fool you. Picky employees burrow through hundreds of bags of garments every day so you can nab a North Face jacket for $48 or, say, an Ann Taylor Loft cardigan for $15. And whatever retired duds of yours they don’t want, they’ll donate to local charities. How cool is that?

2. Bella Stella
Its charming coterie of baby fashions reflects Portland’s reduce-and-reuse ethic and parents’ good sense. Owner and two-time mom Laurel Ackerman’s impressive selection of baby clothes includes Posh Baby pants for $9 ($36 retail) and Bical Grippers shoes for $16 (half off the full price). The shop also has a spacious play area, so the kids can romp around while you trade in their things for store credit on the spot.

3. Well Suited
This suit shop’s tailoring services have earned Citysearch’s Best in the City award three years in a row. But it’s the prices that keep gents coming back: Well Suited sells Armani for around $250 (regularly $1,000) and Hugo Boss for $200 (down from about $900). You can also swap your old suit for a comparable one, or place it on consignment and wait for the cash to roll in.

4. Seams to Fit
Fashionistas flock to this shop to score impeccable designer fashions at prices that would make Carrie Bradshaw swoon. Such high-end goods include Jimmy Choo pumps for $100 (most retail for around $500) and Dolce & Gabbana skirts for a scant $60 (regularly around $400). All the clothes here are less than two years old, flawless, and, most important, totally guilt-free.
